Picture that!

- mary Bryan, Romford, essex.

WE HAD decided to be self-sufficient and grow our own vegetables. My husband Bob planned and made two big raised beds and we carefully selected and bought seedlings of various kinds.

However, any attempt to grow anything was thwarted by a mysterious nighttime visitor. The varmint dug holes, uprooting seedlings and generally spreading soil everywhere.

We tried many things without success until I saw a picture which I thought might be a solution. Was I scared to try it — would the crows take over? No way! Instant success when Maizie and Corny arrived!

Overnight — no holes, plants grew successfully and we have been enjoying marrows, broad beans, tomatoes, cucumbers and a bumper crop of sweetcorn!

The little varmint seems to have moved on to our neighbour, who complains that plants are scattered and mysterious holes dug overnight. We have no problems like that any more — not while Maizie and Corny stand guard!
