The whistling prince

-

Back in 1964, my mother, who worked in Borgen, or christiansborg as the danes call it, sent urgent news to me in London.

It had been noticed in official circles that young Prince constantine of Greece had been observed standing outside the school attended by the lovely young Princess anne-Marie of denmark.

the Prince had been seen and heard with two fingers in his mouth doing loud wolfwhistles to attract her attention. this, everyone said, is true love. they will live happily ever after.

and this they seem to have done, living for decades as exking and queen in exile in Hampstead, London, before they returned to Greece a few years ago.

as wolf-whistling is now, apparently, to become a criminal offence, treated as on a par with genuine and serious verbal and sexual abuse, it would be of interest to hear if any other royal princes have been doing that kind of thing. ANNE-LISE GOTZSCHE,
