Ankle injury set to rule Kane out of Wembley date with Scotland

-

HARRY KANE is set to miss England’s World Cup qualifier against Scotland at Wembley on November 11 after being ruled out for two months with an ankle injury.

Two scans yesterday ruled out a fracture but showed the Tottenham striker had damaged ligaments while tackling Sunderland’s Papy Djilobodji late in Sunday’s 1-0 victory at White Hart Lane. Spurs are concerned it could be severe enough to rule him out for six to eight weeks.

The 23-year-old was carried off on a stretcher after his ankle buckled under his body weight and he left the stadium on crutches having scored the only goal of the game.

Kane’s injury could lead to an opportunity for Jamie Vardy to lead the line for Sam Allardyce’s men at Wembley, with Wayne Rooney also in line to be deployed up front.

England midfielder Dele Alli, meanwhile, has signed a new sixyear deal at Tottenham thought to be worth £50,000 a week. Alli, 20, follows Christian Eriksen and Eric Dier, who have recently penned new deals.
