Yahoo warning

CUSTOMERS who use the same password to access their Yahoo email as to log in into their online banking accounts have been warned to change it immediatel­y. Millions of Yahoo email users are thought to have had their names, dates of birth and encrypted passwords snatched by hackers.

Pensions check

SAVERS will be able to check how much all their pension pots are worth by visiting one website called pensions dashboard from March next year. So far 11 pension companies have signed up. More are expected to join later.

Insurance hike

CAR and home cover costs are set to rise again when the latest insurance premium tax hike is introduced on Saturday. The tax charged on insurance will rise from 9.5 pc to 10 pc. This time last year it was just 6 pc.

Credit card deals

VIRGIN Money is offering three new credit cards. One charges no interest on balance transfers for 40 months. There is a 2.4 pc fee — £60 on a £2,500 balance. If you can repay your debt quicker, its 24-month, interest-free balance transfer card has no fee. Alternativ­ely, its all-round card charges no interest on balance transfers or spending for 25 months.

Uni bargains

UNIVERSITY students can claim 10pc off their weekly food shop for the next three months at Morrisons. To use the discount, download the

myunidays.com phone app. There is a £100 maximum spend and the offer can’t be used online.

Power problems

ENERGY companies are failing customers with problems, according to a report by watchdog Ofgem. While the overall number of complaints has fallen, more customers are unhappy with how their complaint has been dealt with. Two thirds of Npower customers and 64 pc of Scottish Power customers said they were very dissatisfi­ed with how their complaints were handled.

Old age freedom

THE word pension should be replaced with the phrase ‘freedom fund’, the former Pensions Minister has said. Steve Webb, who now works for insurer Royal London, says young people are put off by the word pension because they associate it with the elderly.

Cyber attack

CRIMINALS are increasing­ly targeting banks, insurers and advisers in a bid to steal customer details. The number of attacks on financial firms has jumped from five two years ago to 75 so far this year, according to the Financial Conduct Authority watchdog.
