But whatever Gwyneth Paltrow’s controversial beauty routine is... it is clearly working as this makeup-free selfie to mark her 44th birthday reveals.
The Oscar-winner proved her clean-living lifestyle has left her with a wrinkle-free, clear complexion that would be the envy of a woman half her age.
In the photo she beams at the camera, her long blonde hair in natural waves. She posted the image for her millions of followers on Instagram yesterday. She captioned it: ‘No makeup for my 44th birthday, embracing my past and future. Thank you for the instalove.’
The Hollywood star’s lifestyle website Goop is full of her eccentric food and drink choices, including a maca and vanilla mushroom powder smoothie which contains moon dust to give her a glowing complexion, and bone broth, full of collagen for plumper skin.
Under Miss Paltrow’s favourite snacks on Goop is something she calls the crunchy kale salad with blood orange vinaigrette.
The description calls the bizarre combination of raw and crunchy baked kale a ‘revelation’ and touts it as being full of iron, good fats and antioxidants.
Oil pulling – swilling oil in your mouth for 20 minutes – is also popular with Miss Paltrow, and is said to draw out toxins from the body. The actress, who was married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, has recently returned from a luxury five-day tour of Iceland with her children Apple, 11, and Moses, nine.
The trio posted snaps of their Nordic adventure revealing they visited glaciers, luxury hotels, and enjoyed puffin-spotting and silica soaks.
