Relish the rowie!

Sarah Vine need not worry that the aberdeen rowie is on the way out (Mail).

Instead, it is making its way South and is now to be found in mainstream supermarkets in the Scottish capital.

aldi, Morrisons and Tesco all sell them and there is nothing better — on a cold day — that a rowie (or buttery) warmed through in the toaster and served with butter and/or jam.

Yes, they are lard-laden — but the original purpose was to feed the fishermen as the trawled all day and night for a good catch.

Even the late Terry Wogan was a fan after being introduced to them by one of his TOGS.

Go on Sarah, hunt down a supply and surprise your other half! You may even find you enjoy them yourself. A Duthie, Perth.
