Stubbs orders Allan to show character
ROTHERHAM manager Alan Stubbs has criticised Scott Allan’s attitude and insists the on-loan Celtic midfielder needs to reflect on his recent performances. Allan has made a total of eight appearances for the Millers since joining on a seasonlong deal at the start of last month but was not even included in the squad for Saturday’s defeat to Cardiff and Tuesday’s loss at Huddersfield. Stubbs got the best out of Allan at Hibernian during the 2014/15 season, after the 24-year-old was named the Championship’s PFA Player of the Year and earned a switch to Parkhead. But with Rotherham rooted to the English Championship basement having won just one of their opening 10 matches, Stubbs is demanding more from the playmaker. Stubbs, who has also dropped Jake ForsterCaskey, said: ‘The one thing I expect is 100 per cent commitment. I want to see that players care. I want to see character. ‘If they give me that, then if they have a poor game I can accept that all day long. ‘Nobody can play brilliantly every week. I understand that. That’s life. ‘We just left him out of the squad to reflect on his performances. He’s someone we feel has a lot more to offer than he is showing right now.’
