WHAT makes a handbag worth £495: the latest design or colour?

What if it could charge your phone and tell you when you’ve got a text message? That’s what high-tech handbag designer Gianoi is offering.

The bag, which went on sale in Harvey Nichols this week, connects with a smartphone app, so the bag’s clasp flashes when you get a message or call (different coloured alerts can be selected for email, text or social media notification).

It also has a built-in USB charger hidden in a discreet internal pocket. To juice up the bag, simply sit it on a special charging plate overnight.

As yet, though, it can’t help you find your misplaced keys.
