Baldrick: I’m ready to bring back Blackadder

-

SIR TONY ROBINSON says he would like to revive Blackadder, the much-loved Eighties BBC sitcom in which he played the hero’s dogsbody Baldrick.

‘I’m probably one of the minority who would like us to do something,’ says Robinson, 70. ‘There are loads of different things we could do — and if everybody wanted to, then I would certainly be willing to have a go.

‘The problem is because we went out on such a high with Blackadder Goes Forth, anything we did now — however good it might be objectively — people would say: “Oh, it wasn’t like in the old days.” ’

‘Ben Elton always said: “Go to a Ladybird book and find a period of history with six chapters.”

‘I would love to do King Alfred, just because it’s one of my favourite times in history.’
