AFRICAN-CARIBBEAN cuisine has healthy amounts of fish and vegetables, but unhealthy amounts of fried food. This, plus a perception that women from African and Caribbean backgrounds should be curvy, is causing serious health issues. The writer Bonnie Greer and the academic Dionne Taylor present CURVALICIOUS (RADIO 4, 11AM); they look at the long-term health problems caused by the pursuit of a curvy physique, and hear from a white woman about to have plastic surgery to get the ‘perfect black bottom’.
THE American singersongwriter Sid Griffin is in the studio for RADCLIFFE & MACONIE (BBC 6 MUSIC, 1PM). Sid will be talking with Stuart Maconie about one of his favourite bands, The Bangles, whose hits included Manic Monday and Walk Like An Egyptian.
