It’s bed and all aboard!
SPENDING a week on a bus might not sound like the most glamourous holiday.
But the accommodation provided in two single-deckers parked on a Scots farm is more luxurious than many holiday homes.
Balfour Stewart, 61, of Bankrugg Farm, East Lothian, bought the buses two years ago.
He has converted them into holiday lets – complete with king-size beds, fully functional kitchens and bathrooms and a wood-fired hot tub.
Mr Stewart said: ‘We’ve seen things like Grand Designs on TV before and always wanted to have a go. This seemed like the perfect way to do it.’
Guests can enjoy the day-to-day running of the farm and have the opportunity to interact with sheep, chickens, horses and alpacas.
Mr Stewart added: ‘It started with a couple from Dundee and it’s just spiralled from there. This weekend we had a couple from Cologne, Germany, who were really excited to be here.
‘I think the location is a big factor in that we’re probably only 40 minutes from Edinburgh.
‘But we can offer a romantic setting with amazing views across the farmland. It’s more attractive than a chain in the middle of a city.’
The buses cost a little more than the local parkand-ride, though. A three-night stay starts at £399, rising to £799 for seven nights.
Mr Stewart already has plans to add another luxury bus to his collection and this time has his sights set on converting a double-decker.
