THIS comes in a neat carry pack of four bottles of red, each sealed with a beerstyle cap. It has a party look and the wine is bright and fresh with lots of just squashed berry flavours.

I love that you can open just the one without having to resist a top-up as you would with a 75cl bottle.

WHITE WINE

Tesco Finest* Sancerre 2015, £12, Tesco

ONE of the best wines in the Finest* range, this is great value for one of the Loire Valley’s smartest white wines. Made from the sauvignon blanc grape, it has plenty of ripe citrus fruit aromas and a gorgeous grapefruit character. Really fresh and crisp, too.

Food pairing: Salmon fillet.

RED WINE

Pichi Richi Shiraz 2014, £7, Marks & Spencer

NOW there’s a chill in the air, I want more wines like this Shiraz. With a splash of Petit Verdot, it has plenty of colour and smells faintly of violets along with a fruity blackcurrant flavour.
