Mother tells of rape claim girl’s torment
A WOMAN who claims she was raped by two footballers experienced a personality change after the alleged attack, her mother told a court yesterday.
The 62-year-old widow said her daughter had been a ‘bubbly’ person but that following the incident she would not speak to anyone and wanted to stay in the house.
The mother said her daughter changed after the events in 2011. She told the Court of Session: ‘She never really went out and only ever really came down to see me and her dad.’ Her father died that same year.
The 30-year-old daughter is suing former Scotland international David Goodwillie and ex-Dundee United player David Robertson after raising a £500,000 damages claim. The court was told the amount of compensation to be paid to the woman if she succeeds in the action has been agreed.
She alleges both men raped her in the early hours of January 2, 2011, at a flat in Armadale, West Lothian. It is claimed she was incapable due to the effect of alcohol of giving free agreement to intercourse.
Goodwillie, 27, who is now with Plymouth Argyle, and Robertson, of Bathgate, both deny the allegations and maintain that intercourse was consensual. Neither was prosecuted.
They claim that CCTV footage shows the woman was capable of walking, holding a conversation and using her mobile phone.
It is maintained that it shows her openly flirting with and kissing Robertson and walking with her arm linked through Goodwillie’s arm.
The case continues.
