Davis rejects SNP demand for opt-out
BREXIT secretary David Davis has slapped down Nicola Sturgeon’s demands for a separate Scottish deal for leaving the European Union and for Scotland to be given powers over areas such as immigration.
Talking in Glasgow yesterday, where he met his Scottish Government counterpart Mike Russell and business experts, Mr Davis said: ‘It’s got to be a United Kingdom deal but it will reflect the interests of the people of Scotland.’
When asked if the First Minister is being ‘realistic’ with her demands for power over immigration and international affairs, Mr Davis said: ‘They are both reserved powers.’
A spokesman for Mike Russell said: ‘Scotland has every right to put forward proposals to protect our interests.’
