Too much festive spirit

WHILE I’m sure it will be a roaring success, there seems something profoundly against the Hogmanay spirit of things to have a ‘Night Afore’ concert in Edinburgh this year.

Tickets for Paolo Nutini apparently sold out so quickly for the night itself that organisers are putting on an extra do on December 30. I may be oldfashioned but to me, the 30th is when you traditionally load up on carbohydrates and get an early night.

Just as the 1st is the time for lying in a darkened room with a towel over one’s head, promising yourself you’ll just stay home next year.
