Missing RAF man: The final CCTV pictures

- By Jenny Kane

NEW CCTV footage has emerged in the search for an RAF serviceman who has been missing for almost a month.

Yesterday police released video of the last confirmed sighting of Corrie McKeague, who vanished after going out for the evening with friends in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

It shows the 23-year-old – originally from Dunfermline, Fife – walking alone in Bury St Edmunds at 3.25am on Saturday, September 24.

His mother Nicola Urquhart, 48, also of Dunfermline, fears a third party may have been involved in his disappearance.

Earlier this week, she told ITV’s Good Morning Britain: ‘Corrie is quite clearly seen on CCTV walking in the middle of the road and then into this loading bay.

‘He never gets seen coming back out. There’s not one image of Corrie on CCTV in the entire area. It would take an expert with months of preparation to be able to evade that – and Corrie wasn’t trying to.

‘He has just vanished – and as a police officer I know that doesn’t happen. Somebody else must be involved.’

Earlier footage released by police showed Mr McKeague slightly stumbling and eating takeaway food in the area at around 1.20am on the day he vanished. Officers are still trying to trace a group of people he sat with and spoke to while in the takeaway.

His mother had previously voiced concerns that the young serviceman may have been seized in a jihadi plot.

The town where he disappeared is just 30 miles from RAF Marham in Norfolk, where another RAF serviceman fought off two men of Middle Eastern appearance during an attempted abduction in July.

Mrs Urquhart said at a press conference earlier this month that kidnapping ‘has been mentioned by the police and it’s not something they would rule out’.

She added: ‘It’s looking more and more suspicious as time goes on and they’re not actually finding him. It [kidnapping] is something they’re thinking of… something they’re looking at.’

Mr McKeague’s girlfriend, Chloe Fox, has shared CCTV footage on her Facebook page in the hope that it will help generate information about his whereabouts.

Police have said there is no evidence of criminality.

Mr McKeague was reported missing on September 26 when he failed to turn up for duty. Searches of woodland areas in the vicinity are continuing with the assistance of specialist RAF search officers.
