Her maddest moments...

-

1 After a gruelling 11-hour flight (well, as gruelling as a first class cabin flight might be) Mariah arrived at her five-star London hotel at 2am. Livid at the lack of fanfare, she made her chauffeur repeatedly drive around the block while she waited for staff to lay out a red carpet lined with white candles. 2 Not naturally blessed with height, she compensates with her choice of footwear: heels. At. All. Times. An documentary filmed her on her home gym treadmill in stilettoes. 3 It seems she wasn’t overly enamoured with her £8million engagement ring from James Packer (pictured): ‘It’s so heavy I can’t lift my arm up,’ she fumed. 4 Like any good diva, Mariah does not do bright light. In her own inimitable words: ‘I have a rule which states that I will not be seen in fluorescent lighting without sunglasses.’ 5 Of course, her voice is her fortune and naturally does all she can to protect it. So, no matter where she sleeps, Mariah demands 20 humidifiers dotted around the bed. 6 And if Mariah is protective of her vocal chords during sleeping hours, imagine what she’s like during daylight ones. Not surprisingly, then, flunkies are barred from talking to her before any performance, communicating instead through sign language or placards. 7 In 2009 Mariah was booked to turn on the Christmas lights at London’s Westfield. In addition to her fee, she requested 20 fluffy kittens. 8 When Mariah gave birth to her twins, she ensured they had a rousing entrance to the world; a recording of a live performance of her track, Fantasy, being played, on a loop. 9 After letting her locks down until am at celebrity restaurant San Lorenzo, in Knightsbridge, she cancelled a radio interview because ‘she’s not a morning person’. 10 Perhaps hoping to boost her thespian credentials, Mariah agreed to appear in a budget movie called Tennessee, despite producers telling her she would have to fly economy. Amazingly, she agreed… only to book out every seat on the plane, and fly in the cabin, utterly alone.
