Sturgeon Brexit blame game
NICOLA Sturgeon will today blame Tory austerity for causing Brexit – despite new figures revealing that she cut council budgets by more than half a billion pounds this year.
The SNP leader will call for more money for public services during a visit to Sheffield, the first in a series of major events planned south of the Border.
But her attempts to blame Westminster suffered a blow last night when a new report by independent Scottish parliament researchers confirmed local government funding was cut by £349million in 2016-17, or £507million when adjusted for inflation.
Last night, Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale said: ‘With more than half a billion cut from local services in the last year alone it’s time for the SNP Government in Edinburgh to stop the cuts by starting to use the powers of our Scottish parliament.’
