1 in 3 already on Christmas diets

-

IT’S a time of the year when many of us over-indulge. So with Christmas approaching, one in three adults are already dieting to prepare for piling the pounds back on over the festive season, a survey reveals.

Half of those polled said they were worried about gaining weight over Christmas, and 32 per cent said they were dieting and exercising more in the time leading up to it.

Around one in five of those who have begun their health regimes admitted they have done so to make up for the exercise sessions they will miss in December due to being busy with social occasions.

Meanwhile 28 per cent are dieting to make sure they look their best at parties, the survey of more than 1,000 adults found.

The poll, by personal training provider Be A Better You, also asked which treats they feared would scupper their dieting. Alcohol topped the list, followed by more meals out and that extra chocolates and other snacks are around the house at Christmas, which they would not normally have to resist.
