SNP ‘negativity’ harms business
The Institute of Directors’ annual conference at Gleneagles heard a largely pessimistic verdict on the snP’s approach to Brexit. More than half of the members at one of scotland’s largest business groups believe their prospects have been damaged by the snP’s approach to Britain leaving the eU. I must speak out. When I went onto our Balgonie Castle Facebook business page to announce we did not support a second independence referendum and we voted for Brexit, myself and our business were crucified. We came out about our beliefs because this is a very important time in the history of the UK and scotland. scotland has been going deeper into the abyss of economic decline since the division of the first referendum on scottish independence. our business used to see 30 per cent of customers come from other parts of the UK. This has completely bottomed out since the referendum of 2014. The negativity the snP throw out to the public is the wrong avenue to go down, and the snP are the current leaders in scotland. My many years of experience working in retail has taught me when cuts need to be made and when investment is needed. scotland needs investment. To attract investment, you must be stable, not a small country so full of uncertainty. We cannot allow the whingeing and constant complaining to be our footing. We must go forward with positive thinking.
