We can charm him, says UK ambassador

BRITISH officials think they can exploit ‘outsider’ Donald Trump’s inexperience and character to ‘evolve’ his policies, a memo suggests.

A leaked document reportedly written by the UK’s ambassador to Washington on Wednesday, said the president-elect would probably be subject to external influence if a charm offensive to him was ‘pitched right’.

According to The Sunday Times, Sir Kim Darroch, the UK’s top diplomat in the US, wrote: ‘The president-elect is above all an outsider and unknown quantity, whose campaign pronouncements may reveal his instincts, but will surely evolve and, particularly, be open to outside influence if pitched right.’

Downing Street said that it did not comment on leaked documents.
