Supermodel linda evangelista famously said she wouldn’t get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day. To most people, that amount — just under £8,000 — would be more than fair remuneration for getting yourself up and dressed.

But in the world of the superwealthy, a day’s wages can reach sums that make linda’s demand look modest. Britain’s richest women can earn many times the average annual salary in just a few hours. Some don’t even have to turn up to pull in these enormous pay cheques — their investments grow in value while they sit back and enjoy the perks of massive wealth.

To reveal what some of the highest female earners in Britain are paid, we estimated their annual earnings, then divided that figure by 365 to come up with their daily wage.

of course, top earners put a premium on discretion, and our figures, drawn from company documents and other public sources, may be the tip of the iceberg. So who are the superwealthy women — and what do they choose to spend their millions on?
