TERESA TARMEY LED THERAPY

TERESA TARMEY is one of London’s best facialists with such a keen following of celebrities and socialites that there are few spaces in her packed schedule.

Any skin treatment out there, Tarmey (pictured with me) will know about. And her favourite is LED.

The state-of-the-art machine she uses is a Dermalux — one of the latest generation models for LED Phototherapy. It transmits specific wavelengths of light energy into the deepest layers of my skin to trigger the body’s natural cell processes into accelerating rejuvenation and repair.

Remember learning about plant photosynthesis in biology? It’s the human equivalent of that. Think of it as getting all the benefits of the sun, but without the harmful UV rays. HOW IT FEELS: It’s painless, noninvasive and so relaxing. I’m not surprised to hear that exposure to this kind of light can boost serotonin levels — the hormone responsible for happiness. Could it become a natural alternative to Prozac? THE RESULTS: Do I look different? Maybe a little. Just as important i feel energised. It is like the energy you get after a good holliday in the sun, but without the UV damage and the weight gain from over indulging

Two weeks later, I’ve had five more treatments and there is a visible difference. I know this because people have noticed.

It’s subtle — you won’t get the same effects as from a chemical peel but my skin is noticeably less dull, less grey, less, well, middle age The

pigmentation I’ve got on the sides of my face from too much sun seems to have quietened down, too. CELEBRITY FANS: Models Daisy Lowe and Poppy Delevingne. OUCH FACTOR: 0/10. EFFECTIVENESS: 6/10. TIME TAKEN: 20 minutes. WHERE: Teresa Tarmey, 12 Needham Road, Notting Hill, London W11 2RP; £70 a session or £580 for ten.
