SKIN LAUNDRY LASER AND LIGHT TREATMENT

- ALICE HART-DAVIS

SKIN LAUNDRY is a laser salon in Liberty department store and it’s quickly becoming the quick fix to skin that blow-dry bars are to hair.

This treatment uses laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) machines on a low setting, so no skin numbing is needed and you are left looking fresh rather than reddened.

IPL is used to get rid of age spots, while the laser beams vaporise dirt, oil and bacteria on the surface and in pores to deep clean the skin.

HOW IT FEELS: First, a laser pen-like device is wafted over the face and blasts out low-level laser light.

It feels as if tiny drops of hot fat are being spattered across my skin, but they are so small and so light that the sensation is just a sort of exciting prickling. That is followed by a painless blast of IPL. Afterwards,

my skin is patted with a moisturising sunscreen and I’m done.

THE RESULTS: Because of the gentle power settings, you need repeated treatments to get results on age spots. But what I see instantly is the deep cleaning that has taken place.

Only 12 minutes have passed, but to my amazement my skin is hugely improved. It looks airbrushed — fresh and smooth, as if my pores have shrunk. I’m hooked. OUCH FACTOR: 3/10. EFFECTIVENESS: 7/10.
