‘WALES CAN WIN THEM ALL’

- LAURIE WHITWELL

ASHLEY WILLIAMS believes Wales may need to win all of their remaining World Cup qualifiers to reach Russia 2018 automatically — but insists his side possess the talent to do it. Wales are third in Group D, four points behind leaders the Republic of Ireland, their next opponents in Dublin in March, and two adrift of Serbia after Saturday’s draw. ‘We feel we have got enough to win all of those games if that’s what we have to do,’ said skipper Williams. ‘Each game gets bigger and bigger when you don’t win. The more it goes on, they turn into must-wins. ‘We haven’t lost, which is a positive after four games. The games against Ireland will be important but we feel we can win them. ‘We feel we can beat any side. So, while it is still a close group, if we have to win all of our games, we are confident enough we can do that.’ Wales have drawn three matches in a row after leading at half-time, twice letting in equalisers in Austria, then succumbing to Georgia at home, and now allowing Aleksandar Mitrovic to head a late leveller to cancel out Gareth Bale’s opener. ‘It is frustrating to take the lead again and not win,’ added Williams. ‘But it is not like the last one, where the second half was bad and we didn’t do what we were supposed to. We still played well and we were doing our jobs.’
