WHEN your very existence hangs on being seen as the epitome of rich, one night away from home can cost more than many people’s annual mortgage bill. This was the case when Kim Kardashian and Kanye West attended the MTV Video Music Awards in August last year, staying in a £25 million Manhattan penthouse. The apartment, spread over 7,200 sq ft, offers 360 degree views of the Big Apple from no fewer than seven balconies. It features four bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as an indoor and outdoor kitchen, sauna, home gym and rooftop pool. Like most celebrities, Kim didn’t put a review on Airbnb. Instead she posted an Instagram picture of herself lying back on a sofa, describing it as a ‘home away from home’. Given her 90 million followers on the social network, the owners are likely to have been thrilled.
