What City insiders are recommending . . .

-

BUY THIS: Cineworld

BROKER N+1 Singer picked out cinema chain Cineworld in its ‘best ideas’ report for 2017. Cineworld gets around 40pc of its earnings from overseas, with branches in Poland, Israel and Hungary among other countries, which means it is not solely reliant on the UK consumer. N+1 said: ‘Last year showed an undiminished appetite for cinema attendance and in 2017 there are three blockbusters scheduled – Star Wars VIII, Toy Story 4 and Fantastic Four 2, with Avatar 2 and possibly the next Bond in 2018.’

SELL THIS: Morrisons

THE Share Centre has a ‘Sell’ rating on supermarket Morrison, which is due to report on Tuesday. Despite rising sales forecasts, it said concerns about competition are not going away and the firm’s restructuring plan will take time to execute. After a recovery in sales in 2016, shares have risen in recent weeks and investors will be hoping that momentum continued over Christmas. But The Share Centre said: ‘The rise in the share price is a selling opportunity for long-suffering investors.’
