HAVE ALDI AND LIDL PEAKED?

-

TESCO and Morrisons are expected to emerge as the festive winners after warnings shoppers are beginning to fall out of love with Aldi and Lidl.

Analysts predict Tesco is likely to have kept its sales recovery on track in the run up to the crucial Christmas season, at the cost of its Big Four rivals and Germanowned discounters.

Clive Black, analyst at Shore Capital, predicts a 1.25pc to 1.75pc growth in sales in the three months to the end of November. And Morrisons is expected to post a like-for-like sales boost of between 0.25pc and 0.75pc, according to Shore Capital.

It comes after warnings of a sales slowdown at Aldi – which is reporting today – and Lidl, with customers growing fed up with overflowing car parks and long queues.
