FROM RUSSIA WITH LUVVIES
AMONG the celebrities who won’t be performing at Donald Trump’s inauguration are Elton John and Mariah Carey. Thank God, we were worried sick. Dozens of entertainers have announced that they are boycotting the event, even though they weren’t invited in the first place.
The usual procession of ‘liberal’ luvvies are currently working themselves up into a fury of self-righteous indignation over Trump’s ‘illegitimate’ presidency.
Their anger centres on claims that Russia helped get Trump elected, by hacking Hillary Clinton’s emails and spreading ‘fake news’. So you’d think they would run a mile to avoid any association with the Evil Empire.
Er, not when there’s a drink in it for them. Two of the world’s top singers have just trousered £3.5 million for doing a turn at the wedding reception of 19-year-old Irene Kogan. Who she? Irene is the granddaughter of Russian oligarch Valery Kogan, a close friend and associate of Vladimir Putin.
Mariah Carey is reported to have been paid £2.5million, Elton a measly £1million for his 12-minute set. So no conflict of interest there, then. Luvvies, don’t you just love ’em?
