Meghan’s brother ‘can’t cope with fame’

MEGHAN Markle’s half-brother had only recently met the woman he allegedly threatened with a gun, his sister said yesterday.

Thomas Markle is accused of holding a gun to girlfriend Darlene Blount’s head during a heated row at their home in Oregon.

His sister Samantha Grant, 52, said he had started dating the 36-year-old just two months ago soon after it emerged that he was related to Prince Harry’s girlfriend.

Miss Grant claimed his new-found fame had brought problems. ‘It is just so not him, so out of character,’ she said. ‘I have never known him to lose his temper in drink, especially not with a woman.

‘We don’t know this new girlfriend, they have only been together for two months. They started dating very soon after everyone found out he was Meghan’s brother. I don’t know how they met.’

Mr Markle – who has the same father as the 35-year-old actress – was charged and bailed after the incident on Thursday. Police are preparing a report for the district attorney.

Mr Markle was at his home yesterday but declined to comment. His half-sister has been dating Prince Harry, 32, since the summer.
