Repair row may dampen royal wedding plans

-

PRINCESS Eugenie’s potential wedding plans have had cold water poured over them – because of an alleged row over a damp problem at Kensington Palace.

Repairs at Ivy Cottage could cost thousands of pounds and there is a dispute over who should pay, it has been reported.

The Duke and Duchess of York’s daughter is thought to have wanted to move into the royal home in London before getting married to Jack Brooksbank, 30.

The couple have been together for six years and Eugenie, who is eighth in line to the throne, has been pictured wearing a ring on her wedding finger.

A source told the Sunday Express that the 26-year-old and her family do not want to pay for the repairs by themselves.

The estate is also home to Prince Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

‘At the moment it’s a stand-off and the whole thing is in limbo,’ said the insider.

Maintenance work at Kensington Palace usually goes ahead with a number of properties at once in an attempt to keep costs down. The source added: ‘Something will have to give soon if Eugenie and Jack are to move in quickly.’

Uncertainty remains about Eugenie’s status after she was seen wearing a ring on her engagement finger in December.

Mr Brooksbank’s visit to Balmoral last year to meet her grandmother, the Queen, led to claims he asked Her Majesty for her blessing – but this was later denied.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
