HOT HAMISH WATSON

As John Barclay and John Hardie went off with head injuries in Paris, Watson stepped up and was a constant nuisance at the breakdown against a much bigger back row. Helped win some key penalties for Scotland.

HUW JONES

His gap year fairytale continued at the weekend. He was by no means perfect, but if he continues to carry and tackle well he could be adding a Kiwi stamp to his quickly-filling passport.

KEITH EARLS

After scoring a brace in Rome, the Munster man now has five tries in his last six Tests for the Emerald Isle. Last toured with the Lions in 2009 — failing to make the Test squad — but his ability to cover both wing and centre could stand him in good stead.

ROSS MORIARTY

Reminiscent of his dual-code international father Paul with some smart carries and thundering tackles against a formidable English defence. On Saturday’s display the No 8 jersey for Wales and the Lions is his for the taking.

DAN COLE

A cornerstone of the winning tour to Australia in 2013 with his extraordinary ability to absorb pressure and dig his team out of trouble. Typified by when — on his own five-metre line — he pulverised Wales’ Rob Evans, allowing England to clear the ball.

NOT FINN RUSSELL

With ample time on the clock and from in front of the posts, his missed conversion was unforgivable. That lack of composure will have done him no favours when George Ford, Dan Biggar and Paddy Jackson all put in calm and controlled performances over the weekend.

ALEX CUTHBERT

A late replacement for George North, he was totally outpaced by Elliot Daly for England’s winner and the Welsh winger missed three tackles in a disappointing display. Quiet in attack, too, and on current form is unlikely to become a returning Lion.

DYLAN HARTLEY

He may have been on the winning side, but the hooker was subbed after just 46 minutes. He will be desperate to make the tour having missed out last time around for calling referee Wayne Barnes a ‘cheat’ but will need to up his minutes.
