Neymar hails the game of his life as Barca achieve the impossible

- By PETE JENSON

BARCELONA hero Neymar insisted he always knew his side could come back from the dead as he branded the 6-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain the most incredible match he has ever been involved in. The Catalan giants were 3-1 ahead — and 5-3 down on aggregate — with just two minutes of normal time to play when the Brazilian curled home a magnificent free-kick to spark an astonishing comeback. Neymar scored from the penalty spot in the first minute of stoppage-time and paved the way for Sergi Roberto to complete the miracle. ‘It was the best game I have ever played in,’ he said. ‘It was a crazy night. We made history. ‘If there is a team that can turn round a game like that, it is Barcelona — and we knew that. ‘If we are happy, playing our best football, then nothing is impossible for us.’ A jubilant Roberto insisted that the Nou Camp faithful were key players in the historic triumph. ‘If the support is usually one extra man, they were ten extra men tonight,’ he said. ‘We achieved this thanks to our fans. The triumph is for them. ‘In Paris, we were in serious trouble. ‘If this has proved anything, it is that Barcelona are made for these games.’ Barcelona’s dream looked to have died when Edinson Cavani scored for PSG just after the hour-mark, but home defender Javier Mascherano insisted he still believed his side would save their skins even at that stage. ‘We were very confident because we believed — even after Cavani’s goal,’ said Mascherano. ‘Maybe we were in a hurry because we needed to score quickly, but we still tried to play passes, combinations and play the way we know.’ Midfielder Ivan Rakitic equated Barca’s heroics to the New England Patriots’ amazing fightback in the Super Bowl and reckons no one can doubt the identity of the greatest team in the game now. ‘I cannot believe it. It was really impossible,’ said Rakitic. ‘It is crazy. ‘The first game in Paris was hard for us. A lot of people spoke harshly about our team, but the reaction was special. It is history and we want to keep going. ‘We had to believe. Losing 4-0 (in Paris) was hard, but it is football. ‘We saw in the Super Bowl just what is possible in sport. ‘This is Barcelona, the best team in the world, and we want to continue our dream in the Champions League.’
