One hurt as floor caves in

A WOMAN was hospitalis­ed after plunging into a basement when a floor in a block of flats collapsed.

Emergency services were called to Atholl Street in Perth yesterday after the alarm was raised at around 7.30am.

The building was evacuated and three occupants were led to safety. Scottish Gas Network engineers and staff from Scottish Water also attended.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘A young woman had fallen from the close area into the basement. Our first crews were on the scene within four minutes. An extricatio­n plan was formulated and she was extricated safely at 8.15am.’

Police Scotland said the 25year-old woman was taken to hospital ‘where she is understood to be receiving treatment to minor injuries’.
