Now Mary shares tips on cleaning the loo
SHE’S certainly baking royalty. And now Mary Berry is swapping her wooden spoon for a loo brush as she bids to become the queen of clean.
The 82-year-old cook is pulling on her rubber gloves to tackle the less glamorous chores, such as polishing silver, in a new book sharing her favourite household tips.
And among those tricks, the former Great British Bake Off judge has promised to reveal the ‘perfect, no-fuss way to clean the loo’. Miss Berry said of the book, called Mary’s Household Tips And Tricks: ‘It will be filled with the wisdom I gleaned from my mother and other tips I have picked up throughout my life which I am delighted to share with you all. I hope it will be informative as well as entertaining.’
Her publisher Michael Joseph, of Penguin Random House, added that the guide, which is out in October, will cover ‘everything from setting a formal table to organising your medicine cabinet’.
But the veteran cakemaker is not stopping there in her diversification, as it was announced yesterday she is branching out – into a new role at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
She is helping to create an ‘uplifting’ allotment-style garden at the show. Designed by gold medal-winning landscaper Jon Wheatley, the display will be filled with 50 edible crops, including pak choi, carrots, leeks, beetroot and rhubarb.
