It’s high time young players heeded some good advice

And dads thinking: “I don’t want this to happen to my son”. ‘The penny has to drop before it’s too late. ‘I can’t speak for Queen of the South because our Under-20s don’t train with the first team. ‘But from the other clubs I have been at over the last ten years or so, I would say, yes, there is a problem. It’s not just one club. It’s a culture. ‘Very rarely have I come across a young player in the gym asking me: “How do I get my legs stronger?” Or asking you to come outside and help them practise their shooting. ‘But they will come and find you quick enough when they want to ask about car insurance or the best place to get the latest iPhone. ‘It’s things like that they feel they need — rather than help and advice on how to be the best profession­al they can possibly be.’
