Missing girl, 14, ‘with a man she met on internet’
A MISSING 14-year-old is being hunted after apparently running off with a man she is believed to have met online.
Alicia Moran disappeared on Easter Sunday afternoon and her parents are desperately worried for her safety.
Alicia, who turned 14 last month, travelled 25 miles to Manchester from her home in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
Relatives, thought to include the teenager’s mother, were said to have gone to Manchester to look for the teenager.
Mother Gemma Watson, who is no longer in a relationship with Alicia’s father, appealed on social media for anyone who might have seen her to ‘please please get in touch’, adding: ‘I just want my daughter home safe.’
Family have described the girl as ‘very vulnerable’.
West Yorkshire Police are concerned for the child’s safety but are treating the case as a ‘missing person inquiry’ and there is no evidence that Alicia has been harmed.
Sources believe she may have met the man on social media.
She was last seen at her home in Linthwaite at 4.30pm on Sunday.
‘She was later recorded by CCTV holding the man’s hand and walking past a Jessops camera shop on Market Street in Manchester city centre.
Detective Inspector Craig McKay of West Yorkshire Police asked anyone with information to contact them.
He said: ‘We are very concerned for Alicia’s welfare, as are her parents.
‘We believe she is in the Manchester area and would like to speak to the man pictured who she has been seen with.’
The teenager is described as slim, 5ft 4in with her hair in a messy bun. She was last seen wearing a black woolly coat and a mini dress.
Her mother said last night: ‘All I want is for Alicia to come home. She is only 14 and I am very worried about her and just want to know she is safe. She isn’t in any trouble – all I am concerned about is her coming home safely.
‘The public’s response in helping in the search has been fantastic and I would ask everyone to keep on pushing the message through social media.
‘If you see Alicia or have any information about where she might be, call police immediately.’
