Boasts that exposed his courtroom charade
The prison boasts reveal that Johnson’s courtroom claims of regret were a charade. here the Mail contrasts what he said in court with what he said on the prison video:
COURT Johnson admitted his behaviour was ‘wholly unacceptable’ and apologised ‘unreservedly’ to the girl, adding: ‘She’s a child and ought to have been safe in my company.’
PRISON ‘I accepted her, got talking to her, I didn’t, I didn’t know, I just thought she was 17, 18… Got talking to her for a few weeks and then I met up with her and f***ing kissed her and…’
COURT ‘I said I made a huge mistake.’ [As he confessed to club bosses]
PRISON [On being accused of rape] ‘You can’t do nothing now, birds can say anything.’
COURT ‘I was attracted to her. It was my fault, everything is my fault … I was caught up in the texting like I was speaking to any other person and I should have known a lot better.’
PRISON Prisoner: ‘It’s not like you f***ing raped her or owt like that?’ A laughing Johnson replies: ‘No, I wish I f***ing did for six year.’
COURT Johnson said he was ‘arrogant’ and was ‘adored by fans and showered with affection’. He said he knew his victim ‘idolised’ him and stayed around after home matches to try to speak to him.
PRISON ‘I would have got a caution at the police station. They might not even have charged… If I wasn’t who I was, he [the girl’s father] wouldn’t have gone to the police station. I didn’t even get me c*** out or f*** all.’
COURT ‘I had all sorts of things going on in my head at the time. I was thinking “what am I doing, I have so much to lose”. I was not thinking clearly.’
PRISON ‘I was going to the home games like, you park your car in the car park and she was at my car every game right, waiting for me, just standing there like in all the gear and that… like tight jeans, little shirt, t**s out [makes crude gesture], not like skirts and that.’
COURT Johnson suggests he must treat women with more respect as he apologises for ‘not been a very good person’ towards his girlfriend for repeatedly cheating on her. He employs a therapist who claims the sports star had a ‘very high libido’.
PRISON ‘How many birds have you gone back with who’ve been p***ed, you’ve been p***ed, f*** them? If they say, “I can’t remember what happened” you’re f***ed. D’you know what I mean? You get done for rape.’
