Teacher sacrificed

HoW unjust that a teacher’s career can be destroyed on the words of one unruly pupil (Mail).

Matthew Mountford was a popular teacher performing an excellent job. His pupils will find it hard to accept they have lost a loved mentor merely through a tap on one boy’s head.

the school has a policy of zero tolerance as regards physical contact with pupils and Mr Mountford admits he made an error, but surely losing his job is ridiculous.

Another own goal in the educational world, where we are losing too many teachers of high calibre.
