- By Stian Alexander

IF your name is Pauline and you live in Perthshire, you are one of the luckiest people in Britain.

This is according to an analysis of the names, ages and postcodes of bingo winners across the country for the past year, conducted by GalaBingo.com.

The study found that women called Pauline living in Perthshire were the luckiest people in the UK.

According to the electoral role, there are more than 108,000 Paulines in the UK – with 234 of them in Perth, which has a population of fewer than 50,000 people.

The research also discovered that the luckiest age was 61 and the unluckiest 89.

Using data from its 131 bingo halls across the UK – combined with online figures – Gala Bingo found the top five luckiest names for women and men. They are, in order, Pauline, Trudy, Charmaine, Lorraine and Rose, and Samuel, Dale, Toby, Laurie and Graeme.

The unluckiest women’s names are May, Mel, Abi, Josie and Rachel, while the unluckiest men’s names are Martin, Kieran, Kenneth, Kirk and Hugh.

The top five luckiest postcodes are Perth, Liverpool, Galashiels in Selkirkshire, Salisbury in Wiltshire, and Romford, Essex. The unluckiest places are Chester, Blackburn, Inverness, Swansea and East London. Karina Adrian, of GalaBingo.com, said: ‘Our research proves that luck is all around us, and that you don’t need a rabbit’s foot to stand a chance of winning.’

A LOTTO hopeful who bought a ticket in North Lanarkshire on November 23 is set to lose a £1million jackpot. They won the raffle tier top prize but failed to claim – and only have until today to do so. The winning number was AQUA 46417399.
