On the mend, with a visit from Theresa

- Daily Mail Reporter

SHE was pictured crying and swathed in blankets as she tried to make a mobile phone call after the bombing.

Then photographs of Evie Mills, 14, lying covered in blood in the back of an ambulance were posted on social media by her brother.

Yesterday, as she began to recover from surgery to her injuries, she was well enough to receive a special visitor at her bedside in Manchester Royal Infirmary – the Prime Minister. Theresa May wished Evie well on a visit to casualties.

The teenager’s father revealed his joy at seeing that his daughter was on the mend.

Mr Mills, from Harrogate, North Yorkshire, told of his fears as he watched her being treated.

‘Without a doubt the scariest 24 hours of my life, the good news is the surgery went well,’ he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday night.

Evie’s brother Cal shared a picture on Facebook of Mrs May’s visit, writing: ‘Evie came out of her successful operation on her leg last night, she’ll need another on Thursday but she is doing so well! Thank you so much to everyone for your kind messages...even Theresa May popped in to send her best wishes!’

Cal had previously posted the photo of Evie in the ambulance, saying: ‘I wouldn’t normally post things like this, but, last night my 14-year-old little sister was in the midst of the bombing at the MEN arena, [we are] so so lucky she’s going to be okay but she’s been in hospital all night now with quite serious damage to her legs and chest. Some sick b*stard has caused E[vie] to experience something she’ll never ever forget and it’ll affect her forever now.’
