Labour ‘infighting’ over Barnett formula funding

-

THERESA May last night accused the Labour Party of ‘infighting’ after Scottish leader Kezia Dugdale said her party ‘supports the Barnett formula’ despite claims it would scrap it.

Miss Dugdale said the UK Labour manifesto pledges an additional £3billion for Scotland from the Treasury funding formula.

She was forced to defend the party’s position after her Labour colleague, Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones, said the party would scrap Barnett, leading to calls for Jeremy Corbyn to ‘come clean’ on plans for the funding system.

On Monday, Mr Jones said: ‘It says in the manifesto that there will be a new funding formula.’

Mrs May said: ‘The infighting is between Carwyn Jones, and the Welsh Labour Party, and Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party.

‘They can’t even agree on how much money is going to be available to Wales under a Labour government.’
