Cancer-free after just five months
MIKE Brandon is now cancer-free after having CAR-T cell therapy last summer.
The 32-year-old, pictured with wife Kate, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in 2014. By last year his bone marrow was made up of 90 per cent cancer cells and he was given weeks to live.
But Mr Brandon, from Bristol, was able to have the breakthrough treatment after his wife raised £450,000 in a social media campaign. He began CAR-T last May at the University of Pennsylvania, and in October he was cancer-free. Mrs Brandon said: ‘We couldn’t be happier.’
