Laird seals US Open spot
SCOTLAND’S Martin Laird will compete at next week’s US Open at Erin Hills in Wisconsin after progressing through qualifying. The 34-year-old carded a pair of 67s to finish on ten under at a sectional qualifier in Columbus, Ohio. Laird, who was tied for fourth alongside Stewart Cink and Keegan Bradley, will now join compatriots Russell Knox and Richie Ramsay in the year’s second major. But former world No 1 Luke Donald didn’t make it after failing to finish in the top 14 of a 120-strong playing field.
