Caixinha tips Dalcio to dazzle

- BRIAN MARJORIBANKS

RANGERS boss Pedro Caixinha has tipped loan signing Dalcio to shine on both wings for the Ibrox club next season. The 21-year-old became Caixinha’s third summer recruit after Bruno Alves and Ryan Jack when he agreed a one-year loan switch from Benfica. And the Ibrox boss believes the versatile and aggressive young Portuguese will give him options on both flanks. ‘I bring him here to play more in the wide areas and more as a winger,’ said Caixinha. ‘He can play in both wide areas. ‘He has the talent and reputation, along with the will and desire, to grow as a player. ‘He is highly motivated to deliver with this massive club.’ Dalcio admitted he was impressed by the size of the club, adding: ‘The gaffer was a real influence on me, too. I know he is really ambitious and that was the reason I wanted to join him.’ Caixinha is closing in on deals for Vitoria Setubal defender Fabio Cardoso and Mexico striker Eduardo Herrera. Rangers also remain hopeful of landing Norwich City midfielder Graham Dorrans and Benfica winger Daniel Candeias. A deal is already in place to land Carlos Pena and the Mexican midfielder’s work permit could arrive in time for him to return to Glasgow next week. Pena’s agent Salvador Necochea said: ‘Rangers have told us everything is likely to go through. We are hoping we could have the permit by Monday next week.’
