AS THE first season of this slick U.S. take on the Holmes stories nears its end, Natalie Dormer appears as ‘that woman’ — Irene Adler, she who is legendarily irresistible to the great detective. In this version of the Holmes stories, she is also thought to be dead — but Moriarty has promised Holmes answers about his great love’s death.
LIFE & MOTION The Secret Life Of Waves, 11pm, BBC4
PARTWAY between science and poetry in its language, this elegant documentary explores the nature of waves — in particular, the curious notion that they aren’t made of water. David Malone’s film is a slow-burner, but it is also absolutely fascinating.
