GUERLAIN’s iconic Terracotta bronzer is a true hero product. Launched in 1984, it was the first product of its kind and it’s still a best-seller worldwide. And this year it has been updated for summer.

The Terracotta Chic Tropic compact (£49, johnlewis.com) has a stunning art deco design and has been super-sized in a reusable tin, decorated with a Twenties-inspired palm tree pattern.

The powder inside looks almost too good to use — with shades of gold and coral mixed with the bronzing pigments. This makes it suitable to use as a bronzer, highlighter and blush all at once to subtly lift the cheekbones.
