Hibs hit their stride
HIBS fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Sunderland in Lewis Stevenson’s testimonial match. Understandably, both sides were struggling to find their rhythm in the first period but Sunderland took the lead three minutes before half-time. Billy Jones’ low cross was coolly converted by the impressive Wahbi Khazri. The English Championship side doubled their lead on 54 minutes through Jeremain Lens. Hibs mustered a strong response and Martin Boyle squeezed the ball home from a tight angle on 68 minutes. Neil Lennon’s side levelled five minutes later when new signing Simon Murray tapped home David Gray’s cross. Neither side could find a winner as Stevenson took the acclaim when he was substituted in the last minute. The 9,309 crowd inside Easter Road all stood to applaud Bradley Lowery on the sixth minute after the six-year-old Sunderland fan lost his brave and inspiring battle with cancer on Friday.
