The royal knee! Charles (in shorts) holidays with Greek tycoon on £49m superyacht
IT could have been the hot weather, or perhaps he has been taking fashion tips from his grandson.
For Prince charles sported a natty pair of white shorts yesterday as he was shown round a Greek tycoon’s superyacht.
He and the Duchess of cornwall were welcomed aboard the £49million OKTO in corfu by Theodore Angelopoulos and his wife Gianna.
camilla wore a floaty white dress, while charles teamed his shorts – which normally make a royal appearance when worn by his grandson Prince George – with a blue short-sleeved shirt.
Prince charles chatted with Mr Angelopoulos, 74, as the couple were whisked by speedboat to OKTO, where they were given a guard of honour by the crew as they stepped on to the sleek, opulently fitted-out superyacht.
OKTO, which was built in 2014, can accommodate 11 guests and 17 crew. It has a swimming pool, gym, formal dining room and circular cinema room.
charles and camilla have long been friends with Mr and Mrs Angelopoulos. One of the wealthiest couples in Greece, they used to entertain the royals when they owned the Old Rectory in chelsea in the 1990s.
Mr Angelopoulos’s family developed the steel industry in Greece and became shipping magnates in the process. He owns one of the world’s leading oil tanker operators as well as the Dutch yachtbuilding company Oceanco.
His wife, who was president of the organising committee for the 2004 Olympics in Athens, has previously been named among the world’s 50 most powerful women by Forbes magazine.
A businesswoman, she has supported charles’ charities in the past.
