Brexit will kill off SNP
Some years ago a Labour luminary claimed that devolution would ‘kill Scottish Nationalism stone dead’.
In fact, as many forecast, the exact opposite was true and instead devolution was a gift for the SNP and gave that party a fillip that took years to settle and the repercussions are still being felt.
However, what has broken the back of the SNP bandwagon and started its decline and fall and made the people of Scotland think again is not devolution. It is Brexit. Close general election analysis indicates this. It has left the SNP leaders flummoxed and unpopular and their party deserted by thousands of many former stalwarts. It has stopped and reversed the whole momentum for breaking up the UK.
The SNP may not yet be ‘stone dead’ but it is fatally wounded.
